HeatSeekers will engage and divert young people on the streets. Deploying three four-wheel-drive vehicles, staffed by a team of three and loaded with media and sports entertainment equipment, HeatSeeker vehicles will put ad-hoc video games, TV shows, small sporting events, instant-karaoke, MC battles and disco’s in any outside location, at any time.
We expect each HeatSeeker vehicle to engage a minimum of 500 young people per year, contributing to a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour, worklessness and other social problems in Knowsley.
Each HeatSeeker vehicle will contain:
*Games Consoles for internal and external game play
*DVD player for ‘instant entertainment’
*External disco-lighting for ad-hoc disco’s
*Portable small-game sports equipment
*Microphones and PA for mobile performances & MC battles
Collabor8 will aim to extend our club and concert work to support the local high schools of Knowsley, through the addition of a schools program, and an after-school club
Through planned and targeted combinations of lessons, discussion groups and events, Collabor8 will raise and investigate issues facing young people, showing them constructive and healthy ways to deal with them
By working with schools, Collabor8 will extend OS2’s reach to enable us to deal with over 1000 young people per week
Our schools program will include:
*”Massive” lunch-time and assembly events (targeted to explore current issues facing young people)
*Reactive (to current issues) interactive lessons designed to help young people deal with social issues
*”Special Interest Group” lunchtime clubs
*Urban Arts training and practice
Our after school program will include:
*Chill Out Youth Cafe (with games and internet areas)
*Urban Arts training and practice
*Homework Zone (assisted & supervised)
*Discussion Zone (with invited guests to discuss relevant issues raised by young people)
After four years as a voluntary organisation, OS2 is branching out. In addition to consolidating our existing projects, OS2 will be launching two new projects in order to extend our reach and impact in the community
